Honolulus Adventures, Himalaya 1

Today we will fly between high mountains, our destination is Gilgit (OPGT) in Pakistan. The airport has an altitude of 4781ft.

Takeoff in Samarqand.

more and more snowy mountains are appearing... and they are very high.

For the approach we must dive into the valleys, and we must find the right valley, which leads us to the Airport.

at the flank of the mountains we see the Shandur-Gilgit-Road.

Flying in the valleys is like riding a rollercoaster :-)

Hey, Gilgit is in sight!

a very steep final !

about this flank of the mountain I was coming down!
Landed in Gilgit!

Here we see the Gilgit-Rollercoaster :-)
The next flight goes to Leh.

Takeoff in Gilgit, the clouds are below the airport....

We are approaching the first 8000m-mountain of our journey, the Nanga Parbat

we are at FL270!!!

An impressive giant, made of rock and ice...

now we are enroute to Leh, the highest airfield of our journey. VILH has an altitude of 10682ft.

again we are diving into the valleys....

approaching Leh

and the first "go around" of this journey. The first attempt to land was too high and too fast, I underestimated the effects of the high altitude.
But.... we landed in Leh...

The next flight leds us out of the Himalaya to Dehli (VIDP).

Takeoff in Leh and turning to south

the mountains are getting lower and we leave the Himalaya

and we see the lowlands.

in the final to VIDP  we see the takeoff of a Learjet 45.

After landing and taxiing to the apron I have to cross the runway 10/26. Here I have to wait for a landing Baron 58.

so we are taxiing in pairs :-)

In the second part of the Himalaya-flights we will visit Kathmandu and Paro.
